Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, better known throughout the world as Shakira was born on 2nd February, 1977 in Barranquilla, Columbia. She grew up in Columbia. Since her childhood she has been an extremely talented singer and dancer. She performed in numerous school talent shows and events. Her singing styles include Rock n Roll, Arabic style and Latin. She also created her own version of the Arabic dance that she demonstrated in talent shows.
Shakira is profoundly unique in all her musical assets because of a race cocktail in her family. Due to the fact that her parents were from very different cultural backgrounds she reflects a heavy fusion of cultures in her music. Anyone who has listened to Shakira’s music would bluntly observe the mix of Middle Eastern and Latin vocal, musical and dance styles. This combination in other circumstances may not have proven to be of much interest, but Shakira has merged these two styles so perfectly that music lovers all over the world love it.
In 1990 she emerged as a musical prodigy in Latin America. After two unsuccessful Albums with local Columbian producers, Shakira decided to create her own mix of music. She made a Spanish album in 1995 by the name of Pies Descalzos that made her a favorite in Spain and Latin America. In 1998 she released Donde Estan los Ladrones, which was another Spanish album that became a much greater success than her previous album. Through this album apart from Spanish countries, she got the US attention. After that she decided to break through the US music industry so she released her first English album named Laundry Service in 2001. After that Shakira has been a praised musical celebrity in the US giving successful albums like Oral Fixation and her latest in 2009 by the name of “She Wolf”.
